Topic: Jamaican!
People know U R Jamaican if ...
U can distinguish between 'cocoa-tea' 'bush-tea' & 'green-tea'.
When someone sympathizes with U, U comment 'Yuh tink seh it easy?' U point with your lips.
U can't say 'three' or 'thing' ... you say 'tree' & 'ting'.
U say words like Heg instead of Egg; Hingland(instead of England
U give directions with your hands, even if it is in another state.
U go to parties for the food & drink & then cuss afterwards when the food & drink run out.
U nod your head upwards to greet someone.
U always find yourself standing next to plenty of luggage & boxes at the airport.
When U travel home, U bring an extra suitcase going down, it has none of your clothes; returning, it has food. U hate to throw away empty containers as they might come in handy for pepper sauce or 'green seasonings'. U have one big pot you call curry pot when U are not even cooking curry.
U have another pot you called dutch pot. .U say 'bwoy' at the beginning of a sentence & 'man' at the end of it. U always hang something on your rearview mirror. U put pepper sauce on everything for the taste.
U think eating ackee & saltfish, plantain & fried dumplings R a great morning breakfast.
U can't go a week without a rice dish. U think steak is a waste of good meat; U would rather cut it up and stew it with potatoes. U chew & suck out all the marrow from the chicken bone & then pick out your teeth afterwards. U save all juices from the cooked meats/chicken to use for flavour for your next dish.
U wash & rinse plastic utensils & cups that can be used again.
U bring home food from a party ;enough for your breakfast the next morning, your lunch & your dinner! U chew the ice when U finish your drinks. U must put dumplings in all soups.
U show disapproval by sucking your teeth. U have a dishwasher in the house & only use it for special occasions. U have a thyme or mint bush growing somewhere in your yard.
